CHOKE 2014

CHOKE 2014

Choke is an annual themed event organized by students and teachers from the direction graphic design of the AP college and Karel de Grote College . This year, the department of Sint Lucas Antwerp, who is part of the Karel de Grote college, organized a special edition called 'Choke' .
Choke is a term used in the printing press when we overlap two adjacent colors. The Themes were design, marketing and technology. Their goal is to build bridges between them to achieve more harmony in the city of Antwerp.

After the event, the winners of the competition "Antwerpsehandjes" had to be announced.
It was a drawing competition around the so famous "Antwerpse handjes", the most popular cookies from antwerp. You had to download a template of their website and be creative with it basically. The competition was organized among others by Piet de Lombaerde and had tremendous success . More than 400 hands were sent from all over Antwerp and  Netherlands . The winner was herself was a graphic designer from the Netherlands .

I actually won the 8th place of the competition and i was very surprised! i didn't expect that at all!
Well thank you so much for reading and keeping up with me; I also hope you liked my video that i made.
Till the next time!

freeman's dead sea minerals face mask

hello sweeties!

Today i have a very interesting review for you! I have been using this product for  4 months right now and i have to say that it is one of the best masks i have ever tried so far.
it is the freeman's dead sea minerals anti-stress face mask. This mask was the total beauty award winner of 2012.
First of all i have to say that this stuff smells amazing! It has a touch of lavender and Bergamot which is very convenient if you want to have a pamper moment for you skin and relax.

Dead sea minerals make wonders in our body. The body itself doesn't produce minerals, we usually get them out of the food we eat. Those minerals are very important for the cells in our system, they help them communicate and renew themselves, that is way it is a good thing for our skin. It helps renew the skin cells to keep them healthy and heal scars, acne and so on.

What i usually do is put the mask on before i shower and let it dry. Then i will wash it  out in the shower. Afterwards my face will feel very clean and vulnerable too, so i put a nice moisturizer or even a serum. When your face is cleaned it loser all the natural oils so it is recommendable that you put a nice moisturizer so it can suck up all the good benefits from it. Even when your face is oily, you have to use moisturizer because most of the times the cause of having oily skin is dehydration.

Well after using the mask my skin feels very soft and clean and my acne heals so quickly! it is really a good mask that i can recommend to all skin types. Let me know if you try it!

i will link some link so you can purchase it and for people who live in Belgium, you can find the mask at the 'Kruidvat' store. There are also other types of masks from Freeman! so check them out!

Photography intro

hello!

today's blog is going to be about photography. As y'all know i am currently studying grahic design and photography is something very important. the teacher has told us to take some pictures from landscapes and use the manual function as much as we possibly can. Of course it was a bit tricky for me, but practice is key so what i did was i went out and played around with my camera.

I love to blur the background and create a bokeh effect. Bokeh is a Japanese term that means blur. They mostly associate this with highlights but now a days they use it as a term to define the out-of focus areas of an image. there is obviously good and bad Bokeh but it is just a question of practice.

I am also getting into portrait photography which i think is lots of fun! you have to get the right angle otherwise it won't look right. Try to use natural daylight in all cases if u can. That makes the photos so much better.

Some of the pictures i'll be sharing with you are taken with a compact camera. But most of my pictures are taken a Nikon D3100 and a standard lens. I find it a good and affordable camera for every beginner in photography. I Bought it when it first came out so it cost me around 500 euros (in Europe), but i am sure that you can get it for a lower price. And if you are looking for a good camera, don't hesitate and also look on the internet if you can get a 2nd hands one

In this blog you'll see some of the landscape photographs that i took with a compact camera. This way you will be able to realize that no matter which camera you own, you can still make great photos. Stay tuned for the upcoming blogs so you can see more photographs!

PS: I am not a professional by any means, so i don't expect you to admire my work as something extraordinary and amazing.

TIPS FOR 2014

What have i learned from 2013?

hello!
i know i am late but i think that it is never to late for thinking about things that you have done in the past so here are a few things that i have learned from 2013

1. SLEEP IS NOT FUN
i used to be so lazy that when i came from school the only thing that i thought about was sleeping and dreaming. i never lived my dreams in real life because i was too scared. I always run from reality and i had a few issues with that, such as anxiety and so on. But now that i am in college and after doing so many things for the first time i finally found the switch that i needed and realized that there's so much more to do and to learn!
So my tip for you guys is not to e a lazy fat ass and get things done and as many people say: live your dreams. it may sound impossible but at least you can try right? and who knows you may discover awesome things in life!

2. MEMORIES
You are not going to be young forever, so do as many things as possible. try to spend as much quality time with your friends and relatives as possible because time changes everything and who knows they may disappear the next year. Don't be shy and live to the fullest. Sometimes the stupidest thing that you do turn out to be the most amazing stories for later when you are old.
Try to capture the beautiful moments so my tip for you is to always have a camera with you and let's not lie, now a days pretty much every one has a camera in their phones so again, don't be lazy and use it!

3.KEEP A CALENDAR
If you have a memory like the one of a golden fish it may be handy to keep a calendar or a planner. at the end of the year you can go back and look trough it to see how much you have accomplished that year and maybe you can come up with some crazy things that you'd like to do the next year.
Personally i feel that i have done so many things but i have forgotten so many things an now i regret that i didn't take any pictures or write that down or something.

4. POSITIVISM

I am sure that you have been trough some bad moments trough the last year. But the only thing that you always need to keep in mind is that anything could happen and you have to stay positive about it.
Did you lost someone you loved? Did your grandma die? do you suffer from any disease? well know that nothing lasts forever so try to make as many good memories as you can before anything bad happens and if it does happen, you've got to move on because that's the beauty of life.
Imagine living without problems, that would be nice huh? but there is no such thing unless you are able to appreciate the little small things. If you could revive one single day, yesterday for example, you'd pay more attention to little things that in the first time you didn't notice at all and as many say, you never know what you have until it's gone. So be happy!

5. DON'T DEPEND ON OTHERS

People aren't comfortable enough with themselves and they always have to depend on someone to tell them that they are beautiful or something like that.i think that it is some psychological thing.  I used to be one of those people but i got tired of it and i am much happier now. I tent to be pretty honest and sometimes people can  get upset about it. The point is that you don't have to depend so much on others. Their expectations will ALWAYS be different as yours, so why do you keep over thinking about what people are going to think? if you like it, then do it.

art journal

hello there!
so in this week's blog i'll be showing you some of the pages from my art journal. these sketches/ collages that you see are all from last summer. i had to pass an exam to enter  college and they asked me to keep an art journal. I had to draw every day something about the day itself, some memory that i want to keep of that day or simply a quote or an illustration. i am not much of a word person so they are mostly just little drawings and collages. I hope you enjoy them and let me know in the comments if you want to see more!
have a nice day!
